Historically speaking, The Taktsang monastery is the most famous Bhutanese monastery and it is located in the Paro valley, western Bhutan. It is on a cliff 900 meters above the valley, is also known as “Tiger’s Nest” because Guru Rimpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. He then meditated in a cave here for three months where the monastery was later built. The cave is said to be the origin of Bhuddism in Bhutan.
Sadly, in 1988, the monastery caught fire :( They are still trying to rebuild the monastery but the cave has been found 'intact' since the fire.
according to various websites, it is a must see. Just look at the picture... it is beautiful!
and boy it is! Even we want to visit this place!
but then again we LOVE history.
